Footstepsinthesand Filly Hurries Home In Listed Sprint
Brostaigh (3f Footstepsinthesand - Coachella, by Danehill) proved herself a talented sprinter when winning the Listed Sole Power Stakes at Naas on Sunday afternoon.
The Joseph O’Brien-trained chesnut won her maiden over six furlongs last year and was beaten just a length on her three-year-old return at Listed level earlier this month. Dropping back to the minimum trip at Naas, she raced prominently under Dylan Browne McMonagle and was ridden to lead inside the final furlong. Running on well, she won by a length and a half, as last year’s winner claimed second.
Speaking after the race, O’Brien said, “Her maidens have worked out pretty well and she had a really good run the last day in Cork. She improved a bit more than I thought and probably improved for the drop back to five as well.”
Owned by Mrs Anne Marie O’Brien, the daughter of Footstepsinthesand was bred by Whisperview Trading and is closely related to Group performer Roicead (Giant’s Causeway).
