Bonbon (Footstepsinthesand) winning her maiden at Cork

Footstepsinthesand Filly Wins Maiden In Good Style

The well-related Bonbon (2f Footstepsinthesand - Under Offer, by Bated Breath) built on two positive performances to get off the mark in Tuesday’s five furlong maiden at Cork.

Joseph O’Brien’s charge shaped with promise in May and enjoyed a boost in form when the winner subsequently won a Stakes race. An encouraging fifth next time out, she dropped back to the minimum trip on Tuesday and raced prominently throughout under Wayne Hassett. Improving to lead approaching the final furlong, she was ridden clear to score by two and a half lengths.

Bred by Summit Bloodstock, Bonbon carries the colours of the Glamour & Glory Syndicate. The daughter of Footstepsinthesand is a half-sister to Group 3 winning stablemate Basil Martini (Starspangledbanner).
