Footstepsinthesand Juvenile Bolts Up On Debut

Per Contra (2c Footstepsinthesand - Nonetheless, by Fastnet Rock) emerged as an exciting prospect on Monday when running out an impressive debut winner at Chepstow.

The Ollie Sangster owned and trained colt was sent off an even-money favourite for the seven furlong maiden and was settled at the back of the field by Jamie Spencer. Spencer was last to make a move, switched out to challenge two furlongs from home and made good headway to lead a furlong later. The bay was soon clear, despite showing his inexperience, and led by three and a quarter lengths on the line, with the same distance back to the third horse.

Bred by James Ross Ancell, Per Contra is a full-brother to dual winner Roudemental (Foostepsinthesand).
