Kevin Babington Fundraiser - Ira Gumberg Secures Gleneagles Nomination
Co. Tipperary born showjumper Kevin Babington suffered life-changing spinal injuries in a fall at The Hampton Classic in the USA on August 30. Kevin is one of Ireland's top international horsemen and is one of the most popular and well-regarded horsemen on the international circuit.
To assist with Kevin’s medical expenses and care, Coolmore donated a no guarantee nomination to one of its most exciting young stallions – Gleneagles, a Champion 2YO and Champion 3YO Miler by Galileo.
Coolmore Stud are delighted to announce that Ira Gumberg has secured the nomination with a final bid of €42,000. A leading owner in the showjumping circuit, Gumberg’s Skara Glen Stables is synonymous with great thoroughbred horses such as World Champion 3YO filly Rags to Riches and Belmont Stakes winner Jazil when owned by Ira’s late father, Stanley Gumberg.
Other previous bidders included Trevor Stewart, Anthony Rogers (Airlie Stud), William Kennedy (Tullpark Ltd) and Electra Niarchos. Thank you to everyone who took part to help raise vital funds for Kevin.
