Group 1 Aspirations For Daughter of Australia
A bright future lies ahead of Cayenne Pepper (2f Australia - Muwakaba, by Elusive Quality) after the Jessica Harrington-trained filly made a winning debut at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.
One of seven to line up for the fillies maiden over seven furlongs, she was ridden to track the leaders by Shane Foley and produced a challenge after the two furlong marker. Running on well, she led inside the final furlong and was pushed out to deny joint-favourite A New Dawn (Zoffany) by three parts of a length, with a further length and a half back to Too Soon To Panic (Gleneagle) in third.
Her winning trainer commented after the race, “Cayenne Pepper is a lovely filly although I thought it might take her a bit longer. I would say we'll take our time with her. She has a good temperament and did it right.” Harrington, who trains Cayenne Pepper for Jon Kelly, also added that a Moyglare Stud Stakes entry may now be made for her charge.
Bred by GHS Bloodstock and JC Bloodstock, Cayenne Pepper was bought by Harriet Jellet as a foal for 195,000gns. A half-sister to three winners, she comes from the top-class family of the great Urban Sea, Galileo, Sea The Stars, Tamayuz and King’s Best.
