Hannon’s Success With Foostepsinthesand Continues
A step up in trip proved just the trick for Dingle (2c Footstepsinthesand - Beal Ban, by Daggers Drawn), who gained his maiden win at Kempton on Saturday.
Third on his second start over seven furlongs last month, the Richard Hannon-trained colt was sent off joint-favourite on his first attempt over a mile. Pat Dobbs rode him to track the leaders, switching left to challenge approaching the two furlong marker and made good headway to lead inside the final furlong. He beat fellow market leader Recovery Run by half a length on the line.
Owned by Michael Kerr-Dineen and Martin Hughes, Dingle was bred by Natasha Newsome. The bay was bought by Peter and Ross Doyle as a yearling for £100,000; no doubt encouraged by Richard Hannon’s then recent success with Threat (Footstepsinthesand) and Mums Tipple (Footstepsinthesand). Peter and Ross Doyle previously purchased Larchmont Lad (Footstepsinthesand) as a yearling and he went on to win a Group 3 for the Hannon stable.
