Highly Regarded Son Of Australia Makes Perfect Start
Galashiels (3c Australia - Glenmayne, by Duke Of Marmalade) emerged as a smart prospect on Thursday when making a winning debut at Deauville.
Trained by Andre Fabre for Godolphin, the son of Australia holds an entry in the Prix du Jockey Club and was sent off favourite for the mile and a half maiden. Racing prominently throughout under Mickael Barzalona, he was ridden from two furlongs out and held off challenges to score by half a length.
Bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock as a yearling for 115,000gns, Galashiels was bred by Stonethorn Stud Farms and hails from the family of their Group 1 winner Millisle (Starspangledbanner).
