Living The Life wins US G3 for Footsteps

Gutsy mare Living The Life (6m Footstepsinthesand-Colour And Spice, by Machiavellian) saw off the boys to win the G3 All-American Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on Sunday. The multiple graded winner, who has captured the last two renewals of the G2 Presuqe Isle Masters (pictured), raced handily in the mile contest before asserting her authority in the closing stages to the delight of trainer Gary Mandella. “Anytime you beat the boys, you’re doing something out of the ordinary,” said Mandella. “She loves a fight, and it’s what makes her really special, but she’s also blessed with a lot of talent. I’ve got to figure out another race for her before we go back to the G2 Presque Isle Masters (on Sept. 7). If she can win that for the third straight year, they might vote for me for mayor!”

Living The Life was bred in Ireland by Michael Begley.
