More Group success for Footsteps colt Kaspersky
Top Italian performer Kaspersky (4c Footstepsinthesand-Croanda, by Grand Lodge) added another Group-race victory to his CV in Rome on Sunday.
The Footstepsinthesand colt, winner of the G2 Premio Carlo Vittadini in May, came home a length and a half clear of the field to win the G3 Premio Ribot Memorial Loreto Luciani under Umberto Rispoli.
“All credit to Kaspersky. He can make the running or run close to a good pace, but he is a dominant horse. He is the boss and you have to leave the decision to him,” Rispoli told EBN.
Meanwhile trainer Wndo Botti is hoping that Kaspersky will now get an invitation to compete in the Hong Kong international races in December.
“The Hong Kong Mile has been our dream target since the beginning of the season. Kaspersky has done nothing wrong,“ said Botti. “He has won five times, including two Group races, and got beaten by just the heavy ground in the G1 Premio Vittorio di Capua.
“Today the ground was not good as we expected, but he ran another good race. Now we have to see how he comes out of the race and wait for news from Hong Kong. We will be very happy to have a tilt at such a important race and Kaspersky will relish the ground and the course at Sha Tin.”
Kasperksy races in the colours of his breeder, Allavemento La Nuova Sbarra.
