Star Of Orion (2g Footstepsinthesand - Harpist, by Danehill Dancer) defied inexperience to make a winning debut at Newmarket on Friday.

The Ralph Beckett-trained bay was outpaced in the early stages of the six furlong contest, but showed plenty of ability once the penny dropped. Making headway from two furlongs out, he led close home under Harry Bentley to deny the short-priced favourite by a neck.

Owned by Miss Tracey Ashbee, Star Of Orion comes from the family of Group 1 winners Design On Rome (Holy Roman Emperor) and Romanised (Holy Roman Emperor).
