No Nay Never to Coolmore after Turf Sprint
No Nay Never favourite for Saturday’s Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint will have his final start in the extended six-furlong contest after which he will be retired to stand at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.
The son of leading young sire Scat Daddy went unbeaten in three starts as a juvenile last season winning first time out at Keeneland before breaking the track record in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and later winning the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville from subsequent Group 1 winners Vorda and Rizeena. On his most recent outing No Nay Never defeated older sprinters in the Grade 3 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland.
“Wesley Ward has trained some very fast horses over the years but he is in no doubt that No Nay Never is the most talented,” said Coolmore’s Director of Sales David O’Loughlin. “He’s a very strongly-made individual who dwarfed his rivals in the parade ring at Royal Ascot. We can see him proving very popular with breeders here.”
