Progressive Footstepsinthesand Filly Captures Group 2 Sprint
The Joseph O’Brien-trained Brostaigh (3f Footstepsinthesand - Coachella, by Danehill) continued her upward curve with Group 2 success in Sunday’s Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly.
A useful two-year-old, the daughter of Footstepsinthesand took the Listed Sole Power Stakes on her second start this season and was one of two three-year-olds to line up on Sunday. Dylan Browne McMonagle rode the Irish raider in a prominent position and asked for a serious challenge approaching the final furlong. Running on well to lead inside the final furlong, she was ridden out to beat Prix de l’Abbaye second Air de Valse by three parts of a length.
Owner Scott Heider enjoyed a perfect start with Brostaigh, having purchased her privately following last month’s Listed win. Bred by Whisperview Trading, she becomes the latest Group winner by Footstepsinthesand, who enjoyed Group 1 success last season with Prix Maurice de Gheest victor Marianafoot (Footstepsinthesand).
