Smart Juvenile Completes Double For U S Navy Flag
Flag Of St George (2c U S Navy Flag - Tamazug, by Machiavellian) completed a smart double for U S Navy Flag on Thursday when running out a commanding winner of the six furlong Novice Stakes at Newmarket.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge finished a promising fourth on debut at the track, and with that race having produced another three winners, was sent off favourite under Robert Tart. Chasing the leaders in the early stages, he was travelling well when shaken up to lead approaching the final furlong and ran on well when asked. The winning margin was two and a quarter lengths, with another length and a quarter back to the third.
Owned by Laurence Holder, Flag Of St George was bred by Longueville Bloodstock and is a half-brother to Grade 3 performer Sterling Crest (No Nay Never). He hails from the second crop of U S Navy Flag, whose son Ocean Vision recorded his second Stakes success earlier that day at Longchamp.
