Smart Saturday Double For Australia

Oceania Legend (3g Australia - Ame Bleue, by Dubawi) completed a double for his sire on Saturday when making it two from two in the Novice Stakes at Newcastle.

Successful over course and distance on last month’s debut, the James Ferguson-trained chesnut was sent off second favourite to follow up under Daniel Muscutt. Racing in second for much of the way, he was shaken up approaching the final furlong and ran on well to lead in the shadow of the post.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “He has a really nice attitude and great constitution. He's had to work for it but this is definitely a deeper race than last time. I'm looking forward to him stepping up in trip.”

Oceania Legend is owned by KK Ho and was bred by Dayton Investments out of Group 1 performer Ame Bleue.

Earlier that day at Lingfield, Lost Of Love (3c Australia - Nur Jahan, by Selkirk) made a winning debut in the ten furlong maiden under Ryan Moore.

Trained by Richard Hughes for Ivis Sze, the son of Australia was slowly away and raced towards the back of the field for much of the way. Pushed along from over three furlongs out, he made good headway approaching the final furlong and was ridden to lead inside the final furlong. Digging deep under pressure, he denied a challenge by a short head.
