Sir Lucan (Camelot) Wins The Listed Yeats Stakes At Navan

Son Of Camelot Proves Stamina In Yeats Stakes

Sir Lucan (3c Camelot - Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) ran down stablemate Wordsworth (Galileo) to land the Listed Yeats Stakes at Navan on Saturday afternoon.

A maiden winner and fourth in a Group 2 as a juvenile, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt made a significant steup up to a mile and five furlongs on his latest start. Ridden to track the leaders by Wayne Lordan, he was part of the leading trio who drew clear from two furlongs out and ran on to lead close home. The winning margin was a neck, as Party House took third; nine lengths clear of the field.

Lordan was pleased by the winner’s performance and said, “He had a very good run to finish fourth in a Group 2 as a two-year-old and he was always going to come forward a lot when stepping up in trip. We went a good even gallop, he travelled, quickened and dug deep. I hit the line well.”

A Coolmore homebred, Sir Lucan is a full-brother to dual Group 1 winner Sir Dragonet (Camelot) and has a two-year-old brother named The Lute Player (Caravaggio) in training at Ballydoyle.
