Oxford Rock (Starspangledbanner) Wins His Maiden At Navan

Starspangledbanner Juvenile Gains Deserved Maiden Win

Saturday saw Oxford Rock (2c Starspangledbanner – Boragh Jamal, by Namid) gain a deserved win when justifying favouritism in the five furlong maiden at Navan.

Trained by Joseph O’Brien for Michael O’Flynn, the daughter of Starspangledbanner had placed on three of her previous starts, as well as running with credit in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. Partnered by Wayne Hassett on Saturday, she raced prominently throughout and asserted with a furlong left to race. She ran on well under pressure to beat Turners Cross (No Nay Never) by half a length, with another two lengths back to Island Girl (Starspangledbanner) in third.

The useful filly was bred by Ms A Sammon.
