US Stakes-Winner for Footstepsinthesand
Talented filly Premier Steps (3f Footstepsinthesand x Primissima, by Second Set) has wasted no time making her mark in the US taking the $100,000 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream at her second start since coming across from Europe.
Placed twice at Grade III level last year in Europe, Premier Steps is now with Chad Brown and showed good improvement from her first outing stateside back in November, travelling up in third place and then dashing to the line to win the one mile contest by a neck in a close finish.
“This was my horse’s second time in the country and she didn't show too much speed in the beginning,” said winning rider Javier Castellano.
“My horse was looking around a lot and wasn't too focused today, but I think when the horses came to the outside of her and made a move, my horse took off and did it the right way.”
Bred by Manister House Stud in Co Limerick, Premier Steps is the first stakes-winner from Primissima, a daughter of English stakes-winner Princess Taufan.
She is the 19th stakes-winner for Footspepsinthesand, who stands this year in Ireland at a fee of 10,000 euros.
