€450,000 Sale Leads Super Results For Walk In The Park
Impressive debut winner Histrionic (4g Walk In The Park - Flemensbay, by Flemensfirth) rewarded the brave store price paid by connections when reselling at the Goffs Punchestown Sale for €450,000.
Joey Logan stretched to €100,000 to secure the son of Walk In The Park at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, a price vindicated when Denis Murphy’s charge won a four-year-old maiden at Tralee. €100,000 was also the opening bid for the exciting prospect on Thursday, with the hammer eventually falling in favour of Tom Malone acting on behalf of Paul Nicholls.
After signing the docket, Malone said, “Paul saw him this morning and loved the horse, who is for an existing client. It's a family he has had success with in the past and the horse came well-recommended by Denis Murphy.”
All three of Walk In The Park’s offerings on the night sold for six-figure sums, the first of which was Gordon Elliott’s €200,000 purchase of promising four-year-old The Enabler (4g Walk In The Park - Nanny Stone, by Flemensfirth). The Mary Doyle-trained relation to Denman was sent off favourite on debut at Curraghmore and produced a fine round of jumping to finish second.
Sportinthepark (4g Walk In The Park - Miss Oscartea, by Oscar) was another who shaped with real promise on debut, as he kept on gamely to finish second to Practice Run (Walk In The Park) at Fairyhouse. That performance saw Matthew Flynn O’Connor’s charge sell for €170,000, with Peter Nolan and Noel Meade later revealing their purchase was made on behalf of owner Phil Polly.
