Soldier Of Fortune Filly Fetches Six Figures At Goffs
A daughter of the in-form Soldier Of Fortune became the joint highest-priced filly at the Goffs Land Rover Sale when selling to Gerry Hogan for €100,000.
Offered by Charel Park Stud as Lot 197, the bay is a half-sister to the top-class Appreciate It and talented hurdler Danny Kirwan. “She’s been bought for an existing client,” Hogan later explained. “She is a lovely, athletic filly who is a half-sister to an outstanding horse and hopefully she’ll inherit plenty of his ability.”
Denis Murphy recently enjoyed an excellent result with a son of Soldier Of Fortune when selling his debut winner City Chief to Highflyer Bloodstock for £210,000. He will be hoping lightning strikes twice, after giving €64,000 for Springmount Stud’s half-brother to Ballymoy (Flemensfirth).
Colin Bowe also trained A Fortune Out West (Soldier Of Fortune) to make a winning debut in a four-year-old maiden at Punchestown last month and reinvested €50,000 in a Soldier Of Fortune gelding offered by Stone Lodge Stud as Lot 142.
